My Dear Laura,
I first saw you Laura at a Zionist meeting in Willesden
sometime in the beginning of 1966. After one or two more Zionist meetings I
eventually was able to have a date with you, in May, and asked you to marry me
just two weeks later. Then on a cold and windy March day in 1967 we were
married in North Finchley. Now almost thirty-six years later we have been
separated in this life, and you have gone on to join our parents.
Throughout those years, some good, some not so good, you
always looked forward and always produced your lovely and ready smile which
would brighten everyone's day. You were always honest in you approach to
people and your truthful straight forwardness may have upset some, but then,
they should have looked in a mirror.
Your loyalty to me and our children was
unquestionable. Your loyalty to your friends was outstanding, still to this
day in contact with primary school friends. Those who knew you only benefited
from your friendly advice, truthfulness and lively company.
Your talents were many, but your painting which you
were able to take up again only when our fourth child started kindergarten,
was your forte. The style, the different ideas, willingness to try new ways to
make your works that much better, that much more Laura.
No one can deny the tremendous courage you shoed in
your long fight against your illness which finally took you from us far, far
too early.
Laura, you will be missed, sorely missed, by me and
the children and by many other's relatives and friends, but you will live on
in our hearts forever and ever.
